The employees from Laboratory of Economic Botany of Nature Research Centre organized the Feast of Herbs during the Midsummer Day in Verkiai (Vilnius).

From olden times the Midsummer Day was called the Feast of the DEWS (in Lithuanian RASOS) but in later times it was started to celebrate as the Feast of St. John. It was believed that plants collected on the eve of this day possess magic powers to heal, bring luck and foretell the future. Indeed the flowering plants gathered in these days accumulated the highest contents of biological active compounds and are most valuable for healing purposes.
